1. Viral fever — अलग पहचान (Symptoms)
- बुखार (sudden onset) — 37.8°C से ऊपर
- सिर दर्द, body ache, थकान
- कभी-कभी sore throat, cough, nasal congestion
- diarrhoea या vomiting (कुछ viruses में)
2. Pharmacist की role: क्या recommend करें (General principles)
- सबसे पहले patient का history लें — age, pregnancy, comorbidities (diabetes, HTN), allergies, current meds.

- Ibuprofen (NSAID) — pain aur inflammation ke liye (agar gastric risk kam ho). Adult dose: 200–400 mg per dose, 6–8 hourly, max 1.2 g OTC; HTN/renal issues me dikkat.
- Cough lozenges / oral honey (above 1 year) — throat irritation me help.
- ORS — vomiting/diarrhoea me dehydration avoid karne ke liye.
Warning: Antibiotics kabhi bhi routine viral fever me na den — tab tak jab tak doctor bacterial infection confirm na karein. Aspirin bachcho (especially viral illness like flu/varicella) ko mat dein (Reye's syndrome ka risk).
4. Red flags — turant doctor ko refer karein
- Persistent high fever (>39°C) ya fever 3 din se zyada
- Breathlessness, chest pain, severe dehydration
- Altered sensorium, continuous vomiting, severe abdominal pain
- Infants (<3 months) ya elderly aur immunocompromised patients

- Rest aur adequate fluids (water, ORS, soup)
